Disaster Relief Supplemental Update
And some Advocacy Resources
Congress is staring down a December 20 deadline for passing an FY25 budget extension. Speaker Johnson has won the fight for a short term extension until March but knows that he will not be able to pass it without votes from the Democrats. The Democrats have decided the price for their support is a robust Disaster Relief Supplemental Appropriations bill. Negotiations are continuing this week and there is the NPS coalition has a big lobbying effort underway on Capitol Hill. A draft bill is not expected to be released until December 15. If you have a National Park or National Forest site that has requested disaster recovery funding please let me know so we can include the project in our discussions with congressional offices.
No decision yet on a public lands bill, but negotiations continue.
As the 118th Congress rushes to the finish line, advocacy resources for the 119th Congress are being posted. I am attaching the 2025 calendars for the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate as well the U.S. Conference of State Legislatures listing of state legislative sessions. I have created an Advocacy Resources section to Advocacy Amplified home page and has posted the calendars as well as the 2023 NPS Visitor Spending Effects Report.
I will keep you updated as Congress rushes to the finish line.
