Economic Map Updated
Good Reads: Impact of tariffs on craft distillers, Canadian air travel, and DC's cherry blossoms peak.
U.S. Travel has updated its economic impact map, which breaks down tourism’s economic impact (visitor spending, jobs, state & local taxes) by state and congressional district. I have found the data to be invaluable in demonstrating to elected officials that tourism touches nearly every community. The map can be accessed here.

With craft breweries and distilleries becoming a big part of the visitor experience, I thought this Washington Post article on why the small spirit producers often find it easier to expand into the Canadian market than into U.S. markets was very interesting. It is also a good look at why the tariffs are hitting these small businesses harder than big business. The article can be found here.
As we all try to figure out what is going on with Canadian travel, The NY Times has a piece on how airlines are cutting flights and seats to U.S. destinations, particularly during the busy spring/summer season. The article can be read here.
For those of you coming to DC next week for Destination Capitol Hill and other events, the National Park Service announced today that the cherry blossoms have hit peak bloom. That means you should have great views of our beautiful blossoms during your visit — weather permitting. NPR has a great piece with a photos that can be found here. If you aren’t able to see the cherry blossoms, we are also awash in cherry blossoms cocktails which is the next best experience.
